About Mrs. Ballard
I just moved to Charlotte last year from Shelby, NC. I am married and have two precious Yorkies, Teddy and Scooby. This is my second year at South Charlotte Middle School, but I have been teaching 8th Grade Math and Math 1 for three years. Teaching 8th grade math is very special to me, because 8th grade was a pivotal year for me and math. Before 8th grade, I was a good student, but math was certainly not my strong suit. I struggled to survive in 7th grade math, but when 8th grade rolled around, something began to click. I had a teacher who challenged me to always do my best. She was probably the hardest teacher I ever had, but she inspired me. From 8th grade on, math became my favorite subject.
I later went to college at Campbell University and ended up majoring in Mathematics! If someone would've told me that in 7th grade, I would have never believed them.
I write this to encourage you! I did not like math, but now I LOVE math and recognize its importance in the world around me! I hope that I can inspire you to be the best that you can be in my classroom and in the world outside of my classroom.
